How It Happened

The Buccaneers outshot the Colonels three-to-one in the match on Tuesday night, but couldn't get the job done. Curry scored their first on a header from Castillo in the 13th minute to go up 1-0. Five minutes later, Drons scored on a penalty conceded by the Buccaneers to make it 2-0 Curry in the 18th minute. With the half winding down, the Buccaneers drew a penalty of their own in the 40th minute. Burke took the pen and buried it for his first goal of the season, cutting the deficit in half. The teams went to the break with Curry leading 2-1.

In the second half, Maritime outshot Curry 13-5 and had nine corners, but the Curry defense and Ritz in goal kept the Buccaneers from tying the game, or worse. The Colonels saw the game out and were victorious, 2-1, over the Bucs.
