Five Bucs Selected to Men's Soccer All-MASCAC Teams
WESTFIELD, Mass -- Wednesday afternoon, the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) announced its 2025 Men's Soccer All-Conference Awards. Following their outstanding, record-breaking season, five Buccaneers have earned honors on the teams.
Receiving first team selections are defender John Burke, forward Brody Calvert, and goalkeeper Preston Joia.
For Burke, this is his second all-conference nod, his first on the first team. Burke scored two goals this season, his first and second of his career, with the most important being his game-tying goal against Westfield State from a free kick in the MASCAC Semifinals. His other goal came off a penalty kick. He also had an assist this season and is the quarterback of the Buccaneers' defense, helping to hold teams to just 19 goals in 2025.
This is Calvert's third first-team selection. The junior forward scored a career-high 16 goals this season with five game-winners and had two assists. Brody had two-goal games in five games this season, all in conference, against Salem, Bridgewater, MCLA, Framingham, and Westfield in the conference semifinals. His 16 goals are second best in a single season, only to former Buccaneer Brendan Duggan, who scored 18 in a season.
This is Joia's first all-conference selection of his career. The 2025 MASCAC Defensive Player of the Year had an outstanding season for the Bucs, posting an 8-4-2 record with four shutouts. The net-minder allowed only 15 goals on the season and made 60 saves. His single-game season high for saves came in the Buccaneers' 3-1 conference win over Bridgewater State.
On the second team are defender Joseph Hajjar and midfielder Jack Turmel.
This is Hajjar's first all-MASCAC selection. In 2025, he recorded a career-high three assists. Having played in all 19 games for the Bucs this season, Hajjar was an integral part of the Buccaneers' defense all season, helping to keep opponents to just 15 goals.
For Turmel, this is also his first all-MASCAC selection. The junior midfielder netted one goal and recorded four assists on the season. Jack was a large part of the Buccaneers' transition from defense to offense all season, helping produce goals for the Bucs while also keeping opposing teams from getting into the Bucs' defensive zone.
