Buccaneers Lose to Rams in Boston

EAST BOSTON, Mass -- Bucs men's soccer, ranked eighth in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, took on the sixth-ranked Suffolk Rams on Tuesday night in Boston. An early goal for the Rams and insurance in the second half saw the Buccaneers lose their first match of the season, 3-0.

How It Happened

The Rams struck early against the Bucs, grabbing their first and game-winning goal in the fourth minute on Pierantozzi's score from Lee. The Buccaneers took their chances in the first half, outshooting the Rams 12-8, but could not draw even. Suffolk took their 1-0 advantage into the halftime break.

In the second half, Suffolk outshot the Bucs, 13-5, looking for the home victory. In the 61st minute, Mehaya scored the team's second goal of the game. Maritime was unable to get anything started on offense down 2-0 and then fell behind 3-0 in the final minute of regulation. #6 in region two, Suffolk, went on to beat #8 Maritime by the same 3-0 score.

The Buccaneers open Homecoming Weekend at the Academy on Friday night with a conference matchup against Worcester State at Clean Harbors Stadium at 7 pm.
