BRIDGEWATER, Mass -- The Buccaneers and Bridgewater State Bears met in the MASCAC Men's Soccer Championship on Sunday afternoon. The #1 and #2 seeds in the conference did not disappoint with their performance in the Championship round

How It Happened

It was the two best teams in the MASCAC meeting in the Championship on Sunday. The teams played to a 0-0 draw in the first half, with seven shots from Bridgewater and six from Maritime, with both defenses refusing to allow any goals.

In the second half, both teams had their chances in the critical scoring area and had a combined 19 shots. Finally, in the 85th minute, Healy broke through with a header that beat Joia to give the Bears a 1-0 lead with five minutes to play. Though the Buccaneers had their opportunities in the final minutes, including a foul that was called just outside the box, the Bucs were unable to level the game. Bridgewater saw out the remaining minutes and captured the 1-0 victory and the MASCAC men's Soccer Championship.
