How It Happened
The Bucs shot out of a cannon to start their matchup with the Bears, scoring in the fifth minute on Calvert's first of the game, a breakaway goal up the left side of the box that he tucked in the bottom right side of the goal. 10 minutes later, in the 15th minute, he did it again, putting the ball between the Bears goalkeeper to give the Buccaneers a 2-0 lead. Then, in the 34th minute, a Bears miscue led to an own goal that gave the Buccaneers a 3-0 lead that they took into the break.
In the second half, the Buccaneers took just one shot, but held on to their three-goal lead for over 30 minutes. In the 78th minute, Mucci got the Bears on the board with his first of the season. Maritime stood strong despite giving up 23 total shots, 11 on target, and kept the two-goal lead until the final whistle.
