Joia Selected as the MASCAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year

WESTFIELD, Mass -- Wednesday afternoon, Buccaneers sophomore goalkeeper Preston Joia was named the MASCAC's Defensive Player of the Year.

Joia posted an 8-4-2 record in 2025, 5-1-2 in the MASCAC, helping the team to its best-ever conference record, best-ever home record of 7-0-1, and to an 11-win season for the first time since 1989.

On the season, he made 60 saves, allowing just 15 goals, had four shutouts, and posted an .800 save percentage. In conference play, he made 36 saves, allowed eight goals, with three shutouts, and had an .818 save percentage.

As the first-choice goalkeeper for the Bucs, Preston has 11 wins, three draws, six shutouts, and 133 saves to his credit on 29 games.
