Buccaneers Extinguish Beacons in Conference Play
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers hosted UMass Boston in Little East Conference play on Friday night, and for the first time since 2009, the Bucs beat the Beacons 16-15 in overtime. The win at home for Maritime is the first in the 33-game series-history against UMB, and it's their first win against the Beacons in the Little East since Maritime joined the conference in 2021.

- Including the game-winner in overtime, Quinn Mucha scored four times in the win. Daniel Kane and James Sullivan had three goals each. Ryan McDonough added two goals, and Chilton Cabot, Jayson Kelleher, Camden Stern, and Joe Vricella all had one goal.
- Cabot, Kane, Sullivan, and Stern all recorded two assists. Mucha, Colin Fitzsimmons, and McDonough all had one helper.

How It Happened
The Buccaneers scored first, 1:05 into the game, on Sullivan's first of the night. Hutchings tied the game for the Beacons a little over a minute later. Kane and Mucha went back-to-back to give the Bucs a lead and extend it to two goals, 3-1. Schartner scored for the Beacons at 3:08 of the first to cut the deficit to one goal, 3-2. With just under a minute left in the quarter, Kane scored for the hosts to give the Bucs a 4-2 lead at the end of the first.
McDonough opened the scoring for Maritime in the second, pushing the Bucs out to a three-goal lead, 5-2. Konareski matched the goals at 12:45 to make the score 5-3. Then, the Bucs went on a four-goal unanswered streak with goals from Kelleher, Sullivan, McDonough, and Kane, opening the lead to six goals, 9-3. MacLean scored the last goal of the half at 4:35 remaining, and Maritime took a five-goal, 9-4 lead, into the halftime break.
In the third, UMB scored first on Konareski's second of the game. Maritime got goals from Mucha and Stern to open their largest lead of the game, six goals, 11-5. The Beacons got two power-play goals from Hutchings and Hilgert to get back within four. Before the quarter expired, with two seconds left, Mucha opened the lead back to five goals, 12-5.
In the fourth, the Beacons grabbed hold of the momentum, opening the final quarter of regulation with three straight goals to get back within two, 12-10. Vricella sprinkled in a goal for the Bucs to make the score 13-10, but the Beacon got two consecutive goals from Schartner to close the gap to one goal, 13-12. Though Sullivan opened the lead back to two goals, Hutching and Konareski scored within 90 seconds of each other to tie the game at 14-14. Attempting to hold off a comeback by the Beacons, Cabot scored for the Bucs with 2:24 left in regulation to give the Bucs a 15-14 advantage. But, with under a minute left to play, MacClean scored for the guests to tie the game at 15-15 and send the game to overtime.
In the first overtime period, just 27 seconds in, McDonough delivered a pass to Mucha from behind the Beacons' goal. Mucha took his shot and found the top shelf to hold off the Beacons and win the conference matchup, 16-15, in overtime.
