Kane Scores Four in Maritime's Loss to Old Foe Wheaton
NORTON, Mass -- The Bucs men's lacrosse team traveled up I-495 on Wednesday evening to take on former NEWMAC rival Wheaton in a non-conference matchup. The Buccaneers got four goals from Dane Kane in the game and tried to make a late comeback after a slow start, but were ultimately beaten by the Lyons, 17-10.

How It Happened
Maritime fell behind early in the game, as Wheaton scored five goals in the first and kept the Bucs off the board. The Lyons led 5-0 at the end of one.
In the second, the Buccaneers scored first, nearly midway through the quarter, on a Cabot score to make it 5-1 Lyons. Wheaton went on to score four unanswered, including three goals in the final 1:37 of the second quarter, to bring the score to 9-1 at the halftime break.
The teams were even in the third quarter, with both scoring twice. Wheaton scored first at 9:04, then Cabot and Kane scored to bring the score to 10-3. The Lyons got one more goal in the quarter with five seconds left to give them an eight-goal, 11-3 advantage going to the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, the Buccaneers outscored the Lyons, 7-6, not enough to erase the deficit. They did get within four goals with 7:55 left in the quarter, 13-9. Wheaton scored first in the final quarter of play, followed by three maritime goals, two from Mucha and one from Kane. Wheaton sprinkled in a goal before the Bucs scored three more unanswered, two from Kane, one from McDonough, which brought the score to 13-9. Then, the Lyons scored four times to make the score 17-9. Sullivan scored one more for the Buccaneers with 1:35 left in the game. Wheaton saw the game out and gave the Bucs their first loss of the season, 17-10.
