Bucs Tame Cougars in Non-Conference Victory
WORCESTER, Mass -- Men's Lacrosse traveled to Clark University on Tuesday evening to take on the Cougars in non-conference play. The Buccaneers, fresh off of a close conference loss to WestConn, looked to get back in the win column, while the Cougars, at 0-8 on the season, were looking for their first victory. The Bucs offense went on to dominate, scoring 18 goals and collecting an 18-11 victory to bring home to Taylor's Point.

- Daniel Kane led the Bucs and tied for the game-high with four goals. Quinn Mucha and James Sullivan each added three goals. Chilton Cabot and Zach Gambill each scored twice. Cooper Barrett, Mason McNulty, Cole Jenkins, and Camden Stern all scored once.

- Patrick O'Rourle led all players in the game with nine ground balls. He also led the Cougars on the faceoff with 11 wins in 23 attempts.
- Defensively, Joseph Zelaya-Fiallos caused a game-high four turnovers.
- In total, Clark picked up 45 ground balls, was successful on 20 of 29 clearances, won 16 of 33 faceoffs, and took 47 shots.
How It Happened
Clark scored first, less than two minutes into the game, on Gorman's first to take a 1-0 lead. McNulty tied the game for the Bucs just over a minute later. The cougars got a second from Gorman to take their second lead of the game, less than five minutes in, 2-1. The Bucs scored back-to-back goals at 9:55 and 8:58 to take a 3-2 lead, their first of the game, and Clark answered to tie the game once more, 3-3. From there, the Buccaneers took the lead with three goals in the final 4:34 of the first quarter from Barrett, Sullivan, and Kane, taking a 6-3 lead—a lead they would not relinquish again.
In the second, the Bucs extended their scoring streak to five goals with a goal from Sullivan and a faceoff goal from Jenkins 11 seconds later. Down 8-3, Clark scored two of their own back-to-back to make the score 8-5. Then, the Bucs got goals from Gambill and Mucha to hit double digits and take a 10-5 lead. Clark got one more before the break and trailed by four at the half, 10-6.
In the third, Sullivan and Gambill scored within 30 seconds of each other to double up the Cougars, 12-6, with 12:17 left in the third. Clark got two goals to make the score 12-8, and the teams traded a goal each in the final 6:17 of the quarter, one from Kane at 6:17, and Clark scored with 46 seconds left in the quarter. Maritime led 13-9 at the end of three.
In the fourth, Maritime outscored Clark 5-2, opening the quarter with three goals in less than three minutes, extending the lead to seven goals, 16-9. Clark scored one to break up the party, but the Bucs went on to score two more from Cabot and Stern. The Cougars scored a consolation goal with 40 seconds left, and though they hung around with the Buccaneers for much of the game, Clark went on to lose the game to Maritime, 18-11.
