Later in the inning, Campbell hit a three-run home run for the hosts and gave Fitchburg a lead in the second inning, 4-3.

Maritime answered in the top of the third inning, tying the game on a Loughren single that scored McCarthy. The teams were tied, 4-4, after three.

The Bucs offense exploded for four runs in the top of the fourth inning to retake the lead and extend it to four runs, 8-4. Beechin scored first on a Falcons error to give the Bucs the 5-4 lead. Then, White hit a sacrifice fly, Kaczynski scored one a double steal, and Loughren drove in McCarthy to run the score to 8-4.

The fifth, sixth, and seventh were uneventful with no runs scored. In the eighth, Fitchburg scored once on an Abt single to drive in Fonck and pull the Falcons back within three runs, 8-5.

With the Bucs up three in the ninth, the Falcons tried to rally, getting multiple runners on base and scoring one run on an Abt double that scored Fonck. Abt was stranded at second base, and the Buccaneers earned the victory, 8-6.
