BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- Women's lacrosse opened its season at home on Wednesday evening against Wellesley College. In the first-ever meeting between the two programs, the Blue got the better of the Bucs, winning 17-0.

Maritime

• Sabrina Andrews, Brady Deschamps, and Tessa Hinds each had a shot on goal. 
• Maddie Ragucci led the Bucs in ground balls with three and in draw controls with two. 
• Defensively, Grace Condinho, Erin Cardinal, Hinds, and Rech all caused two turnovers.
• In total, Maritime picked up 14 ground balls, was successful on six of 24 clear attempts, and took four total shots. 

Wellesley

• Milica Simic scored a game-high seven goals for the Blue. Charlotte Petersen-Kopman notched six goals in the game. Fran Primoli scored twice, and Merin Shell and Ella Kim each scored one goal.
• Shell was credited with three assists in the win. Petersen-Kopman, Simic, and Eliza Wysong had one assist apiece.
• Petersen-Kopman led all players with five ground balls. 
• Simic and Wysong each had a game-high six draw controls.
• Defensively, Petersen-Kopman caused four turnovers.
• In total, Wellesley picked up 28 ground balls, was successful on nine of 14 clearances, and took 37 total shots.
