Kerecz Makes Five Saves; Bucs Shutout in Season Opener

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers women's soccer team opened their 2024 season on Wednesday night at home against Curry. The Colonels offense pressured the Bucs for 90 minutes and though Reagan Kerecz played well in goal and Taylor Blanton continued her dominant ways on defense, Maritime allowed three goals to their guests losing the opener, 3-0.

How It Happened

In the first half, the game stayed scoreless for the first 43 minutes of the match. In the 43rd minute, Schena opened the scoring on an assist from Maddie Resendes. Less than two minutes later, Croft scored from Fernandez to give the Colonels a 2-0 advantage going into the half.

In the second half, Schena scored her second of the game in the 57th minute to open the Curry lead to three goals. The Buccaneers were unable to get on the board as Curry pitched the shutout winning 3-0.

The Buccaneers travel to Rivier on Tuesday, September 10th to take on the Raiders at 7pm in non-conference play.
