Women's Soccer Picked Seventh in Preseason Poll
WESTFIELD, Mass -- Following a historic season for the Buccaneers women's soccer team in 2023, the team has been selected to finish seventh in the MASCAC Preseason poll, as voted on by the conference's head coaches.
Last year, the Buccaneers finished the year with a 2-9-5 overall record and went 1-4-2 in conference finishing with five points in league play, the most the team had ever amassed in a season. The Bucs proceeded to take three-seed Worcester State to overtime, losing 1-0 to the Lancers.
For 2024, the Buccaneers welcome back 15 players including two-time All-MASCAC second teamer Taylor Blanton and fellow seniors Lindsy Durgin and Kylie Maher. Head coach Lauren Murphy also has consistency in goal for 2024 with Reagan Kerecz and Brady Deschamps both returning. Last season, Kerecz posted two shutouts helping the Bucs to four draws and Deschamps helped the team pick up seven points with two wins and a draw.
Murphy has also brought in seven freshmen as reinforcements for the upcoming campaign and will look to build on last season's points total.
The Bucs open their season on September 4th at home against Curry. Their conference slate opens on September 21st at home against Westfield State and they will finish their regular season schedule at home on November 2nd against Worcester State.
