Bucs Drop Conference Match to Lancers in Straight Sets

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers volleyball team hosted Worcester State on Tuesday at home in MASCAC play. Coming off of a win over Anna Maria in conference, the Buccaneers were unable to make it two wins in a row, losing to the Lancers, 3-0.

 

The Basics

Final: Lancers 3, Buccaneers 0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-16)

Records: Maritime 5-13 (1-3)

               Worcester State 6-14 (3-2)

 

Inside The Numbers

Maritime

  • Shayla Narodowg led the Bucs attack with eight kills and was the team's aces leader with three.
  • Madeleine Salinas had a team-high 12 assists in the loss.
  • Holly Sanders recorded a match-high 21 digs. Erin Donlan recorded 13.
  • At the net, Maliah Servino had two solo blocks and two block assists. 
  • The Bucs posted a 0.017 hitting percentage and 32 points.

Worcester State

  • Beatrice Gamboa-Estrella led all players with 10 kills. 
  • Michelle Iannacito had a match-high 14 assists in the win. On the serve, three Lancers recorded two aces each.
  • Defensively, Katherine Crateau had a team-high 20 digs.
  • At the net, Cassidy D'Esposito had two solo blocks. 
  • Worcester posted a 0.185 hitting percentage and scored 47 points.

 

What's Next

The Buccaneers are in Vermont on Saturday, October 18th, to take on Castleton and UMass Dartmouth in a non-conference tri-match beginning at 1pm.
