BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- On senior day for James CassidyBrian Rosher, and Braeden Kosiewicz, the Buccaneers put up 19 goals on VTSU Castleton at home for their fourth LEC win of the season.

  • Cam Frankenhoff and Liam Evarts scored two goals in the loss. Ethan Esposito and Braydon Goddard scored one.
  • Frankenhoff and Colin Connolly had assists.
  • Asa Forbes and Zac Smith led the team with five ground balls apiece.
  • Defensively, Gabe Rubio led all players with four caused turnovers. 
  • In total, Castleton picked up 30 ground balls, succeeded on 20 of 37 clearances, won two of 29 faceoffs, and took 24 shots in the loss.

 

How It Happened

The Buccaneers scored the first four goals of the game, all in two minutes and 12 seconds between the 12:22 and 10:10 marks of the quarter. McDonough scored the first, McIntire, Cabot, and Vricella followed. Castleton scored their first goal at the 6:55 mark of the first to cut the Bucs lead to three goals, 4-1. Maritime scored three more times in the quarter with goals from Barrett, Vricella, and Barrett with seven seconds left, to take a 7-1 lead at the end of one.

In the second, Mucha scored 46 seconds in, and Kane followed that up to extend the Bucs run to five goals and give them a 9-1 lead early in the second. Castleton went back-to-back on goals from Esposito and Evarts to bring the game to 9-3, Maritime. Kane scored 16 seconds after the Evarts goal to bring the Buccaners to double digits. Evarts and Vricella scored in the final three minutes, Vricella's came with 26 seconds left in the half, and Maritime held an 11-4 lead at the break. 

The Bucs controlled the scoring in the third quarter with goals from Kane, Barrett, Mucha, and Kane again, and led 15-4 heading to the fourth.

Maritime scored four goals in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter, three from Lynch and one from Cataline, to make the score 19-4. The Spartans scored two more times in garbage time, and the Buccaneers earned the senior day win, 19-6, in conference play.

The Bucs are on the road for their penultimate game of the regular season on Tuesday, April 22nd, at Salem State at 7 pm in Conference play.
