Buccaneers Double up Warriors in Conference Victory
WILLIMANTIC, Conn -- The Bucs men's lacrosse team traveled to Connecticut on Tuesday, trying to get back on track with a conference win. Maritime did just that taking down the Warriors 14-7.

Maritime
- Quinn Mucha led all scorers with four goals in the win. James Sullivan scored three times. Daniel Kane added two scores, and Andy Aguado-Scheyer, Chilton Cabot, Braeden Kosiewicz, Joe Vricella, and Ryan McDonough scored one.
- Sullivan recorded a game-high three assists. Kane, Cooper McIntire, Cabot, Kosiewicz, and Vricella recorded one assist.
- Brian Rosher and Cooper Barrett picked up a game-high eight ground balls.

- Warren Channing led the Warriors with three goals in the loss. Connor Chirico scored twice, and Kyle Bross and Tanner Drobish scored one.
- Channing and Chirico each had an assist.
- Hilinski and Sean Ventresca picked up a team-high five ground balls.
- On the faceoff, Gavin DeLucia won five of 18 faceoffs.
- Defensively, Ventresca caused a game-high five turnovers.
- In total, Eastern Connecticut picked up 28 ground balls, converted 19 of 27 clearances, won six of 25 faceoffs, and took 34 shots in the game.
How It Happened
Maritime took a quick lead less than three minutes into the game on Mucha's first goal of the game. At 6:11 and 6:05 of the first, the Buccaneers scored back-to-back on goals from Sullivan and Mucha to extend the lead to 3-0. The Warriors scored twice at 3:11 and 1:28 to cut the Maritime lead to one goal, 3-2, heading to the second quarter.
In the second, all of the goals belonged to the Buccaneers as they scored five times and held the Warriors to just three shots. McDonough scored the first of the quarter 58 seconds in. In the final 6:04 of the half, Kane scored twice, and Mucha and Cabot added a goal apiece to give Maritime an 8-2 lead at the break.
In the third, there were a combined three goals scored. The first belonged to the Warriors at 12:56 to cut the Maritime lead to three goals, 8-3. With minimal scoring in the quarter, the Bucs didn't get their first of the second half until there was 4:22 left when Mucha scored again, followed by Vricella's goal at 55 seconds left. Maritime led 10-3 at the end of three.
The Bucs scored twice in the first two minutes of the fourth to extend the lead to nine goals, 12-3. Eastern got a goal from Channing at 11:39, and Sullivan matched it for Maritime at 11:17. Midway through the final quarter of play, the Buccaneers led the Warriors. 13-4. In the final six minutes of the game, Eastern Connecticut outscored the Buccaneers 3-1, scoring at 6:19, 2:46, and with eight seconds left. Sullivan sprinkled in his third goal of the game at 3:17, and the Buccaneers went on to win by a final of 14-7.
