Woods Sets New Long Jump Record; Bucs Finish Seventh at Fitchburg

FITCHBURG, Mass -- The Bucs men's track & field team finished seventh in the Jim Sheehan Invitational at Fitchburg State on Saturday, accumulating 36 points across all events. 

Jorden Woods finished second overall in the long jump event, posting a best jump of 6.63 meters. The freshman from Florida set a new personal best with the distance and set a new Buccaneers program record in the process. Currently, he is ranked 92nd in all of NCAA Division III in the event. Woods also competed in the men's 100-meter dash and finished 25th with a time of 11.69 seconds. 

Joey Tully finished second in the high jump this week, an event he won at the Corsair Classic last week. He had his best jump of 1.92 meters and picked up eight points for the Bucs.

Jamaric McZeal had himself an impressive day, posting a fourth-place finish in the men's 200-meter race, and was 14th in the 100-meter with a time of 11.396. 

Freshman William Dalton posted a top-five finish in the men's 400-meter race, finishing in 52.18 seconds. 

Other notable top-10 finishes were: 

  • Gabe Fihlman was 10th in the 400-meter hurdles (1:03.01)
  • Emerson Dobrindt was 7th (39:38.99), and Jack Laliberte finished 8th (39:52.48) in the 10,000-meter race
  • Jackson Faith was 6th in the javelin (49.22 meters)
  • Joseph Hyman finished 7th in the shot put (12.69 meters)
  • John Shields posted a seventh-place finish in the triple jump (12.42 Meters)
  • The 4x100-meter relay team was eighth with a final time of 44.02 seconds.

 

The Buccaneers will compete in the Regis Spring Classic and the Silfin Invitational at Connecticut College on Friday, April 10th, and Saturday, April 11th.
