Buccaneers Lose to Corsairs in Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, Mass -- The Buccaneers football team played under the Friday night lights at UMass Dartmouth this week in conference play. The Buccaneers jumped out to a 7-3 lead early, and then the Corsairs went on to score 28 unanswered to take down the Buccaneers 31-7.

Inside The Numbers

Maritime

  • Quarterback Joseph Schwartz led the Buccaneers in passing with 32 yards on three completions, and rushing with 45 yards on six carries and the team's lone touchdown.
  • Santiago Martinez had one catch for 28 yards in the loss.
  • Defensively, Jackson Mahoney racked up a career-high 16 tackles. 
  • Kyle Stephens had the only sack of the game for the Bucs defense. 
  • Tom Spillane recorded eight tackles, 1.5 for loss. 
  • On special teams, Martinez punted three times for 93 yards, an average of 31 yards per punt. James Sansone punted three times for 95 yards, 31.7 yards per. 
  • Grayson Smith converted his one PAT of the game. 

UMass Dartmouth

  • Quarterback Daunte Melton completed six of 11 passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns. 
  • Running back Mekhi Wilson ran the ball 21 times for 103 yards and two scores.
  • Wideout Jayden Francois caught two passes for 95 yards and a touchdown. Naseim Harrison caught two passes for 21 yards and a score.
  • Defensively, Owen Dunker made nine tackles, two for loss.
  • Kairis Codio had the only Corsair sack of the game. 
  • On special teams, Connor McManus punted four times for 141 yards, an average of 35.3 yards per punt, and pinned the Bucs inside their 20 yard line three times. McManus also made one of two field goals in the game and all four of his PATs.

The Buccaneers had a bye week next week and will be back home for their next game on Saturday, October 18th, against Fitchburg Stage at 12 pm.
