Bucs Finish Third at Callagy Ross and Compete at URI
Bucs sailing took part in the Callagy Ross Regatta at Vermont and two events at URI on Saturday and Sunday this week. In the Callagy Ross, they picked up a third-place finish overall. At URI, the finished eighth and 11th in the Salt Pond regattas.
Maritime edged out Northeastern at the Ross regatta with 191 points to the Huskies' 193. The Bucs were 46 points behind Salve Regina for second, and Maine Maritime took home first place with 128 points. In the 28 events in the regatta, the Buccaneers A boat won one of the events and finished in the top five in a handful of others.
At the Salt Pond Saturday and Salt Pond Sunday in Rhode Island, Maritime finished eighth out of 13 teams on Saturday and 11th out of 13 on Sunday. In the Saturday regatta, the Bucs accumulated 76 points, finishing a point ahead of McGill for eighth. They were eight points short of Bates College for seventh. Connecticut College won the Saturday Regatta with URI boats in the second and third place spots. On Sunday, the Buccaneers picked up 81 points, tied with UConn, and won the tiebreaker for 11th place. The third URI boat beat out the Bucs for 10th with 6 points. Roger Williams' third and first boats finished first overall, respectively, while one URI boat rounded out the top three.
