FRAMINGHAM, Mass.-- Freshman Kerry Kiley (Mansfield, Mass.) scored a pair of goals to lead Framingham State to a 7-0 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference women's soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Tuesday afternoon at Maple Street Field.
The host Rams (2-5, 1-1 MASCAC) jumped out to a 3-0 advantage at the break on markers by Kiley, junior Katie Jeffrey (Attleboro, Mass.) and sophomore Melissa Price (Norwood, Mass.), and Framingham State added four more tallies after intermission, as seniors Silvanna Ortiz (Stoneham, Mass.) and Jillian Landry (Southwick, Mass.), along with freshman Taylor Benton (Elba, N.Y.), combined with Kiley to close out the scoring.
Freshmen Tanya Vital (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Heather Gonsell (Sutton, Mass.) added assists in the win for the hosts, as senior Kate Simonelli (Pittsfield, Mass.) made one save to pick up the win in goal for the Rams. Freshman Emily Welsh (Shelton, Conn.) made a career-high 23 stops in net in the setback for the visiting Buccaneers (1-5, 0-2 MASCAC) as Framingham State outshot Massachusetts Maritime by a 37-3 margin.
Massachusetts Maritime continues its inaugural varsity campaign on Saturday evening when the Buccaneers travel to Westfield, Mass. to take on Westfield State in a MASCAC outing that begins at 6:00 p.m., while Framingham State heads to Worcester, Mass. on Saturday morning to take on Worcester State in a MASCAC match at 11:00.
