Tom Farmer is in his third season as an assistant coach at Massachusetts Maritime, as he mentors the Buccaneer pitching staff. Farmer’s pitching corps has ranked among the conference leaders in earned run average and strikeouts during his tenure, including a team ERA of 3.16 during the 2015 MASCAC championship campaign.
A resident of Sagamore Beach, Mass., Farmer was a four-year starter at the University of Akron and served as the Zips’ captain during his senior season of 2009. Selected by the Minnesota Twins in the Major League Baseball draft in both 2007 and 2008, Tom was a 2006 Cape Cod Baseball League all-star and the Bourne Braves’ Pitcher of the Year that summer when he posted the league’s second lowest ERA (1.76).
A note camp counselor and clinician in the area, Farmer also serves as pitching coach for the Bridgewater Hitmen and Team Mizuno AAU squads.
