Marushka Eddy, who has garnered extensive administrative and coaching experience throughout her 13-year career in intercollegiate athletics, is in her second year as Assistant Director of Athletics at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
Eddy oversees various administrative aspects for the Buccaneers in her new position, including NCAA compliance, student-athlete recruitment & retention and game management. She will also serve as the department’s Senior Woman Administrator and will be the direct liaison to the Academy’s Admissions office.
A native of Nantucket, Mass., Eddy comes to Buzzards Bay after most recently serving as the Assistant Director of Athletics at the University of Bridgeport (Conn.), where she oversaw all aspects of NCAA compliance for the Division II Purple Knights. She also served as Assistant Director of Compliance at Merrimack College (North Andover, Mass.) from August 2012 through December 2014 before taking the position at Bridgeport, as she first joined the Warriors’ compliance staff in the winter of 2011 as an intern before being promoted.
A 2004 graduate of Plymouth State University, Eddy was a standout in both field hockey and lacrosse for the Panthers while earning a degree in physical education. She served as an assistant coach for both sports at American International College (Springfield, Mass.) during the 2005-06 academic year before becoming the head coach for both programs at SUNY-Oswego in August 2006. Marushka served in those positions for two seasons while also serving as a physical education instructor at the institution, and in August 2008, Eddy returned to New England begin a two-year tenure as the head field hockey and lacrosse coach at Lasell College in Newton, Mass., where she also served as NCAA compliance officer. Marushka was tabbed as the 2009 Great Northeast Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in lacrosse after leading the Lasers to a school-record nine victories and a berth in the league semifinals.
In addition to her collegiate coaching experience, Eddy also served as the field hockey coach at both Gilford (N.H.) High School and Minnechaug Regional High School in Wilbraham, Mass. in the early 2000’s. Marushka, who earned a diploma from the NCAA Women’s Coaches Academy in 2008, is a member of both NACDA and the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators (NACWAA). She currently resides in Waltham, Mass.
